Admittedly this is second hand

I work closely with a family member of Empey. He said that the coaching staff including Kalani was hoping people would quit judging them on the results with Broncos guys and fans should wait to see what they could do with their guys they recruited. So it seems pretty reliable to me that this was a sentiment of the coaching staff.
