Sitake had to publicly address the horrible performance of the offense.  Because it was historic.  I am the biggest Ty Detmer fan--just like you.  But the offense was off-the-charts horrible.  After each game, the story was why couldn't the offense move the ball.  Couldn't get past the 50 yard line against LSU.  Couldn't score against ECU who had one of the worst defenses in the country.  Even the games where the offense seemed to move the ball like Utah State, they managed to turnover the ball and provide pick 6's like crazy.  The team had no chance with that kind of performance.

If he had not publicly spoken about how bad the offense was, he would have been killed for not knowing what the probem was.  When it was so obvious.

I defended Detmer, hoping he could turn it around.  But in Div I football, you can't tolerate that.  Detmer will tell you the same thing.

I thought it was nice that they let him finish the season actually.  Because that offense was horrible.  Horrible, horrible, horrible. Its on Detmer man.  That's how this works.  If Sitake was the OC, he would have been fired.  If Andy Reid had been the OC, he would have been fired.  You can't have an offense with the kind of talent we have, and just go lay eggs all season long.  Can't happen.

Above Detmer, I hold Holmoe more accountable because I believe he hired Detmer and the staff that had almost no experience.  He was so arrogant in hiring that staff.  Didn't give the job to Ken N because he insisted Ken hire Detmer and run a pro-style offense.  Ken N actually had experience with running scoring offenses.  And the team would not be in the poor shape if he had hired Ken N.

But we have Sitake.  I believe he has the potential to be a great coach.  But why would we as fans turn on Sitake.  He fired Detmer.  But he had to man.  Come on.  We need to rally around this new staff and give them all of our support.  You bashing Sitake doesn't help anything--IMHO.
