I certainly understand that Sitake had to address the offense in post game
interviews. I was as frustrated as anyone with the offense. However, there were so many things going on behind the scenes that Sitake controlled, but acted publicly as though he did not. Sitake had no business going off on Ty in the post game interview after the U Mass loss, complaining that BYU threw the ball too much, should have run more, not so indirectly blaming Ty for a poor game plan - acting as though he had absolutely no idea of the game plan before kickoff, and had no power to change anything before or during the game. Sitake had no good cause to go off on Ty in the post game interview after the Hawaii win by making a derogatory comment like: "At least we didn't throw the ball forty five times." No, he didn't have to do that. But, he did so, repeatedly. That is just insecure, disloyal, awful behavior beneath a BYU HC, IMO.

Of course I want Sitake to succeed. I want BYU football to be huge. However, there is a right way and a wrong way to address problems. There is a right way and a wrong way to deal with a beloved, well respected guy like Ty Detmer - professionally and with class. Instead, Sitake did the opposite. That was beyond disappointing for me. It soured me not only on Sitake, but made me sad for the program over all. It has taken the wind out of the sails. I'm not saying Sitake can't win me and other fans like me back. However, he dug a very deep hole for himself (and the program). Now that he has hired all his guys, including family, Sitake has no margin for error - and I have very little confidence he is up to the task.
