I've lived in SEC country for 35 years. The only time I ever hear anything
about recruits getting paid is when someone gets caught, then they claim everyone else is doing it too. However, I never have any evidence to back up that claim. You can't pay recruits in this day and age. These kids are primarily 17-18 year-old inner-city kids. If you paid them they'd boast about it on social media before the day was over.

It would be much easier for me to accept the claim that a parent, relative or coach was on the take. That's what we saw in basketball. If a school pays the kid's uncle/mother/coach, he/she is much more likely to be savvy enough to keep their mouth shut.
