...makes me think a little of what Margin Hooks said in his interview a couple weeks ago on Ben Criddle's show. He said Coaches today get too caught up in what a kids star ranking is, how tall he is, how big his hands are, what his 40 times was etc rather than if he can make plays and what kind of "Dawg" he has in him.

He said if he was a college recruiter he wouldn't base much on highlight videos or stars because that doesn't show you much about the makeup of the kid. He said you have to see them play live and pay special attention to when they fail or get knocked on their butt or smacked in the face. You want to see how the kid responds to failure and what kind of "dawg" he has in him. Is it a poodle or a rottweiler? It was a great perspective on how important the make up of the kid and what's inside is to his being successful on the field.
