Um, they hated us before we left but I'm sure
this feels like a good reason for them and sounds more plausible than "BYU is consistently good at all sports, whipped all our football heinies (most other sports too) for decades back in the 80s and 90s (most beyond that), they have more to offer educationally than we do, are ranked higher on best schools lists, they are religious, don't follow accepted social trends and best of all they are the scapegoat of American religions (the Mormons) and they don't fight back."

The one I hear most often from everyone is that people from BYU think they are better than everyone. Could be true. I certainly started to feel better than the bitter, visceral, drunk, bigamist, cussing fans at venues and online representing these fans. I don't believe everyone at these schools was a bad kid or person. I had family members attend about half of these schools. Still, you have to wonder why you don't hear more from the classy fans

Besides, keep in mind, we were the rival for all of these schools but only Utah was our rival. That had to hurt. No doubt it starts to make you feel relegated to a second hand citizen.

Hard not to despise the school that beats you consistently, the school you look forward to beating, and then have that school care little about how you feel about them whether you beat them or not. Alla Utah State. To feel like you are dismissed out of hand is painful. I feel like we were kind of getting there with TCU. They were beating us every year and it wasn't close. I feel like we looked forward to them more than they looked forward to us. If Boise St or Utah cared less about beating us and losing to us then the same thing would be developing because we are losing a lot of games, however that game is still emotionally important to those schools and fans.

We treated the MWC the same way most of the P-5 big schools have treated us. Discounted out of hand so that even when you win it is shrugged off as a mistake. We get offended when that happens to us, I'm sure other schools get offended when we do that to them.
