My point is that my sister in law could VERY easily claim her dog is an emotiona
support animal. Her combination of mental and emotional issues throughout her life have crippled her socially. If she is able to go a couple days without clinging to her dog, than almost anyone can.

The whole emotional support animal cling is a self-fulfilling prophecy for most IMO. You begin to believe that you need the animal to functional properly until that becomes your reality. I’m no psychologist, but I’ve been around enough people with mental and emotional issues to know that most cases of needing an emotional support animal are hogwash.
