My guess is Bronco's offer had to do with what happened with Taumoepenu

For those who remember, Pita Taumoepenu was supposed to come to BYU but was advised to go on a mission while the issue with his Tonga transcripts gets sorted. Utah comes in with their Pac-12 propaganda and that was that. I think Bronco in the back of his mind was thinking with Mo, "I do not want a lose another Tongan kid with untapped raw talent so I'm offering him on the spot."
