told her that she had been handed a death sentence and to accept it. He said that of course any number of other things could happen before she died from cancer and kill her, but that if none of those occurred, she would in fact die from cancer.

He had been an oncologist for 30 years at the time. And he told her that in all those years, every patient he treated, whether they initially 'survived' or not, ultimately succumbed to cancer. He said that it ALWAYS returns. Not in the exact same way, but it does.

A little over the top, we left his office scared senseless. She's been surviving for 15 years now (the last time she was required to have market tests). And she has no plans to fight it if it comes back.
