I wish I lived in that day (not that we can't today respect God's communications from heaven for what they are--rather than cheapen them by making them subservient to an office & person — or worse, to an established tradition).

Unfortunately, our current, long-standing policy regarding the "Word of Wisdom" was never established by a new revelation. Simply by a new & odd reinterpretation of the original revelation. A reinterpretation that is remarkably similar (really, identical) to the full temperance stand being promoted by conservative Christian movements of the era (& what eventually led to Prohibition).
