I remember that being relevant because they saw fit to do all the P5 programs plus Notre Dame and BYU, thereby setting us apart from the G5 programs and above 25 P5 programs. The total value then was assessed to by $136M for BYU and $119M for Utah.
Here's a 2016 figures which leave us out of the top 50 and Utah up to 38:

Here are the 2017 numbers:

I actually don't have a WSJ subscription and so I have never seen his metrics for ranking, but it does seem odd that all the PAC12 and B1G schools seem relatively overvalued IMO. In most analyses, Texas is the biggest big dog out there as far as $$ and fanbase and merchandise go and this has Ohio State well above them. One year I saw a headline criticizing this ranking system because OSU vaulted into the lead with a nearly 60% increase in value over the previous year. Some people were claiming it was rigged for B1G bias.
So, in tracking this over 4 years it does seem odd that BYU has gone from a value of $136M in 2013 to a current value of $98M while Utah has gone from $119M up to $206M. I know that's the general trend of the directions of both football programs, but I don't know if I can agree that the change has been that drastic over the last 4 years. Seems a little fishy.
Anyone happen to know how he's tracking the value or have access to him metrics?
