Count then numbers for this season and you have 72 allowed bowl tie-ins + the 5 additional P5 tie-ins for NY6 bowl games (which are not included in the number restriction) + the additional 7 NY6 bowl game spots (G5 spot, B1G/SEC/ND spot, and 5 additional at-large - most likely spread among the P5 conferences) which equals a total of 84 bowl spots. With 42 bowl games this year that would equal the number available spots for tie-ins. IF the bowl games contract out to all the conferences w/ the maximum tie-ins allowed that would leave BYU with needing a conference to not meet their requirements in order to have the possibility of a bowl game this season.
