Why start Freshman QB if he is slightly better than rest?
The coaches have made it clear that they intend to start the best QB even if he is a Freshman.

Many people believe Wilson has the highest ceiling and could hypothetically be slightly ahead after the fall practices. if the coaches started him would we have a number of QB leave the program?

Of course Wilstead is gone. Mangum has one more year. Would Hodge possibly take a senior transfer next year? Would Critchlow go to SUU where he signed originally like Sorenson did? Would Hall and Connor likely transfer because they see the writing on the wall? This could leave walk-on backups. We must count on the likelihood that the starter will get injured for at least one game. Last year multiple QB got hurt.

Our only QB recruit, Connor is going on a mission.

If we started an upper classman like Mangum or Hodge who has more experience even if slightly less talent, and redshirted a couple of freshmen like Hall and Romney, would most of the QB stay in the program awaiting their turn?
Would the team QB situation be better served?

Edwards was a big proponent of players paying their dues. He routinely started upper classmen over more talented freshmen to keep order in the ranks.

The new redshirt rule allows a freshman to play in 4 games and still redshirt. How could this help the QB logjam? We have spent a lot of effort stockpiling QB talent. How can we hold on to it to provide necessary depth?
