It's really silly to use the OSU stuff. That entire program was a mess. There's nothing he was going to do to make that better, especially as a coordinator. I don't think many people really understand how bad it was.
I don't know what it is about this board and using TINY sample sizes out of context to tell a whole story about coaches. I think you know that's not very fair once you think it through.
BTW, why is that one year relevant to anything? We haven't had bad defenses here, so why does it matter? They're just now getting more of the players they need into the program. It's not instant.

So if Grimes is already here, why can't he have an influence on things as an OC? We had what I bet was the least experienced offensive staff in the nation. Sitake doesn't have to babysit Grimes. And let's not forget the simple fact right in front of us, that Sitake actually hired Grimes. That seems to be slipping by people as a point of positivity. That's a big move for Sitake to be able to work with Holmoe and convince the higher ups to act like a real program and pay for some assistants. That's a step in the right direction for the program and it happened under Sitake whether people want to admit it or not. There have been a bunch of steps in the right direction all in the off season after a bad year.
I'm not sure why it is that we can't acknowledge the positive signs showing since December. Yeah, I get it, everyone is too scared because we haven't had the season yet to see it materialize (or not) on the field. But we can take things as they come and acknowledge that it appears he's figuring it all out and working his butt off to keep his job. Why people have a stick up their can about giving credit where it's due, I don't know.
I mean geez, Grimes is supposed to be a savior, yet Sitake doesn't get the credit for hiring him, suggesting he's quite aware of needing discipline? Come on.

Something people need to be careful about, and something Bronco saw, was that it's just flat out not easy at BYU. The higher ups have got to be a pain to work with sometimes for athletics coaches. BYU is what it is and fans decided to be fans knowing what they are. Gotta live with that.

Let's be real and at least give credit when it's due... It's overdue. As much good as we could ask for has been happening since December (considering the season). Yes we have to see it on the field, and our scheduling definitely doesn't do us any favors there, but we can look at it all through the proper lense to judge if we're really on the way up.
