I took the time to let them know how I felt about the state of the program and the thing that has troubled me more than anything since going independent.
The program talks and acts like it is a P5 caliber program, but the plan hasn't really found strong footing for one reason. The program can't win consistently against P5 competition. If you don't win, you don't make much of an impact for good or bad. You just languish. That is what the program is doing. Languishing. Throw in last season's debacle and the lack of leadership and direction and I told them the program needs to earn my money back.
To the point of TNT's related thread....my enthusiasm for BYU football has gradually waned over the past 7 years. I have been a lifelong fan who grew up with Gary Shiede, Giff Nielsen, Marc Wilson, Jim McMahon, Steve Young and all the glory of the 70's and 80's. I lived through a middling 90's and Gary Crowton in the early 00's. I saw Bronco resurrect the program and lead it back to respectability. The path forward is unclear and I would say the program is on the most unstable footing it has been on for the past forty years. Sound financially, yes, sound in direction, leadership and opportunity, I am not so sure.
