low point. Granted I was not around during the three losing seasons under Crowron. Thankfully my mission filled that gap.
I was not excited when we hired Sitake. Like you, I think he is a great person, super chill and fun to be around, but results on the field and coaching are suspect if not poor. His stint at Oregon St really concerned me. His success at Utah was more a factor of Whittingham never letting his defenses have a break down. Doesn't matter who is his DC, they succeed under him.
I'm hoping Grimes accountability and experience will shine through, but I'm not convinced Sitake is a legit D1 head coach.
Another warning sign was his lack of understanding of X's and O's last year. During our doubt, he kept saying over and over that he wasn't sure what was going on but that they would figure it out.
Maybe I'm being overly critical. I could be wrong, and hopefully last year we can chalk up to Sitake's first bump in the road, but to go from 9-4 to 4-9 is a Huge drop. Highly concerning.
The unfortunate thing is that I don't know enough LDS coaches out there who can come in for limited pay and thrive. Takes a special kind of person.
