I always see the thumbs down as a way to signify that you disagree or dislike something.
So when aba says "he didn't start that game", which OU had already indicated by saying "at the end" in his post - and I followed up saying that that was probably why he said 'at the end', the thumbs down surprised me.
Did he disagree? I doubt that.
Did he not like my post? I guess so. Must've thought I was putting him down or something. Though I don't think I wrote anything more or less controversial than his response to OU.
So overall, it was just weird/funny. Which is why I laughed about it. Overall, getting a thumbs down doesn't bother me. But I typically evaluate WHY it was used. I'm OK with people disagreeing with me - and sometimes I take that as a cue that maybe I should revisit my position and see another perspective. If someone seems to be coming more from a place of dislike, then sometimes I see if I've said something offensive or if I should re-evaluate what I've written. I kind of few the thumbs up and down as feedback on what I'm writing.
I guess I'll just need to add to my evaluation that sometimes a thumbs down is more like the angry spin away hair flip of a spurned teenage girl and really doesn't mean anything.
