When I was a kid, the best video games cost a quarter and a trip to a business that had them. People also had to wait their turn. I couldn't play Asteroids at Gibson's until the people in front of me in line were done. I also didn't have an unlimited supply of money.
It's a bit different today with computer games at home that are so addictive that people lose themselves in them for hours and hours at a time. There's so much entertainment that the lack of entertainment is boredom.
