P5 implies "Power 5" conference. Is BYU a member of a Power 5 conference? The short and long answer are the same: no. Simply because a fan's pride is appeased by a publication seeking to appease fans and increase readership through flattering articles does not mean that the general consensus in college football is that a particular school in limbo between the G5 and P5 is actually perceived as P5. I can tell you, assuredly, that were we actually perceived as P5 by recruits, that we would stop losing so many targeted recruits to actual P5 schools.
