If I’m not mistaken, an employer can only offer

one of those 3: 401k, 403b, or 457. Which plan they can offer depends on what type of business it is.

I think your best option would be an IRA.

Do the 457 plan, but also have some investments in a normal brokerage account

Mine will only match contributions to the 401k but they offer an unmatched 403b and might have the 457 too

If they’re not matching, then there’s no benefit to them over an IRA,

you should at least be contributing to the 403b. there is some risk associated

See if your plan allows for after tax contributions. You can add up to 55k
