They are not doing it for the meat. They spend far more money on the hunt than the value of the meat they get. It isn't that they like specifically watching an animal die but they sure do like the thrill of the hunt and death is a part of that.
Most hunters use the meat argument as a rationalization for the reason for hunting. No, it is because you like to hunt, kill animals, and often put their heads on your wall.
I'm not personally against hunting (often is 100% necessary as part of a conservation plan), but just don't give me the meat argument as your reason. Just be truthful.
