Alcohol I would argue plays a major role in the noise and rowdiness
BYU fanbase is loud but the rowdiness is frowned upon and often reported to security and shutdown. I've seen it multiple times at LES.
Student section is great but no where near top sections in the country. I would argue however I dont think the MUSS holds up aginst the SEC, BIG10 and some ACC or BIG12 sections. I dont even think they have the best in PAC12.
