This played out with the family I home taught. The dad riding his motorcycle
With his daughter on the back of the bike. A drunk driver blew through a stop sign and hit them.

Dad manuvered the bike so that he took the brunt of the accident.

It happened about a tenth of a mile from his house. The wife made it there just before the ambulance got there. The father was in rough shape and the daughter had a broken leg and some bumps and bruises but it was clear she was going to be ok.

The wife was frantic as they loaded father and daughter into separate ambulances not knowing which to get into. A neighbor stepped up and pushed her into her husband's ambulance and the neighbor went with her daughter. The husband passed away shortly after arriving at the hospital. She made the right decision imo.
