not everyone does believe that, in fact many, many, people know that the country did just fine for over 100 years without an income tax and would like to return to that. I think there is another group that is mostly ignorant and simply doesn't know why or what when it comes to these things and then there is a third group that thinks government really does own everything and so taxes just make it so the government can recoup some of it's own money that private citizens have horded.
