And on offense, Anae (who had full control) tailored his offense to whatever QB and friends he had. He proved this time and time again.
And saying the program was semi-healthy is not factual. They may have had some positions that were thin but they could have recruited some JC guys to help bridge the gap in the interim (and had a history of doing so pretty successfully). What were the areas that were the most thin in 2016. DL and OL. Those two areas were exacerbated by Kalani's desire to immediately force his 4-3 system on the team in spite of the program being built for a 3-4. It's still comical to me how many CBers back in the day were claiming how bad Bronco recruited by demonstrating the shortage of DLs and abundance of LBs for a 4-3 defense.
OL was thin due to a really bad setback in 2012 under Doman or whatever but was getting rebuilt under Anae/Tuj.
