What you are missing is that Dave is losing control of his teams and isn't respected by his players. Once that happens you are very foolish not to replace your coach with someone new. You need to find a way to restore faith in your program once it becomes clear that Rose can't do that.

Maybe you cycle through 1-2 more coaches to land on one that can restore faith in the program and earn respect of the players.

You can't let your coach take you to rock bottom when you can already see the trajectory.
