You can laugh at the Bach comment, but if you actually know music, you’d know why the comment was made.
All western music derives from Bach; the tones, the tempos, etc. It’s all Bach. Since Bach, very very few have flipped things and had long lasting influence in music. Jazz is one to note. Elvis brought blues from the black community and intertwined other influences like country-western, but what he really did was expose whites to black music. This cannot be understated. The Beatles experimented quite a bit, but tempos like you hear in Let it Be or the distortion flipped music. You don’t have the change in rock like you hear in Led Zeppelin without The Beatles. Then you have Nirvana. At the time, rock was power chord driven hair metal. Nirvana changed, among other things, the progressions, sounds, drum rhythms, and most of all, the guitar sounds (pedals, etc).
What you hear today in the rock you love comes DIRECTLY from Nirvana. That should be mic drop enough. But keep doubling down. I’m enjoying it.
