I don't think anyone could

because most really big purchases would be an investment. High end jewlery, antiques, art, real estate all investments. To spend 5 billion in retail would kill a person from exhaustion before the money ever ran out and it would be treading water with interest building all the while.

I say anything that yields a non-consumable asset is an investment. Things like cars would be considered consumable.
