I generally avoid doctors for my own health because it's too much of a headache
I don't know if I've ever been to a doctor with a problem when the doctor wasn't convinced that nothing was wrong with me.

Example:
I've lost nearly all of my hearing in my right ear because of multiple ENTs telling me "Oh, you just have a nasty ear infection" when I had a hole in my ear drum. I told the very first ENT, that I would get a rush of water in my mouth immediately if water got in my ear. I went to 3 or 4 of them in the span of about 2 months and was told the same thing. I just had a bad ear infection. They'd give me antibiotics and send me on my way.
I asked each of them if there was a chance that there was a hole in my ear drum. Each of them assured me that my ear was fine other than a nasty ear infection.

So I pretty much had an ear infection for 2 or 3 years straight and any time I got water in my ear, I'd get sick for about 2 weeks. Each time, water immediately entered my mouth. It was very strange.

Then one day during a weekend in Park City, I accidentally got water from the shower in my ear. Coupling the effects of that with the trouble change in elevation always brings me, I was so sick that my wife dragged me to an instacare. Pus was coming out of my ear like it did from time to time and it was awful.

Anyway, the NURSE at the instacare looking in my ear and told me that I had a bad ear infection. THen she told me that she could also see that there was a perforation in my ear drum right along the edge and asked me if I knew about it. I told her that it had been like that for a few years but I couldn't find an ENT who agreed so I'd given up.

She then offered to draw a picture of my ear drum that diagrammed the location of the perforation so I could take it to an ENT.

I visited an ENT the next week. He looked in my ear drum and said "Yeah, it looks like you've had a nasty ear infection." I asked him if he saw anything unusual. He told me that it just looked extremely irritated. That's when I took the nurse's picture out of my pocket and asked him to look again.

"AH, yes. I see that."

I had surgery to fix it, but 2 to 3 years of a constant ear infection due to a hole in my ear drum wrecked my hearing for life. Every time I swallow, it squishes. Every time. I can't get on an airplane without getting sick. I need to prepare my body with nasal sprays and cold medicine whenever I plan to drive into the mountains or I'll get sick for a week.

Anyway, that's one of my stories of bad experiences with doctors. I feel like I need to bring a lawyer or nurse with me to help plead my case.
