Here is your unethical life pro tip for the day: Need to give/get a large some of money and don't want it to be taxed?

In the US, gifts over $15k are taxable, but personal injury settlements for expenses, pain, and suffering (including emotional distress) are non-taxable (punitive damages are taxable). So need to give a large sum of money? Have the person sue you for emotional distress and then settle out of court.
