CB rarely comes out looking good when trying to read too much into random comments from players, coaches, whoever. Trying WAY too hard to read into comments. I know it's the off season but come on.

And what's this about recruiting? Are you really going to start a discussion about team rankings? People who dare to bring it up should have the sense to look a little deeper into what recruiting means, than just class rankings. They don't mean crap at the mid level.

It's getting worse? Have you seen the number of impact guys and contributors in just one year that came from a class everyone was throwing a fit about? Now compare that to a more highly rated class like 2015 where there were just a few contributors and a huge chunk of the class meant nothing to BYU, except fill up valuable scholarship space with non-performers.

His recruiting class after the 9-win season was extremely disappointing? They cleaned up in-state defensively, starting with two highly rated 4 star locals. That was a really solid class. So if you're counting 2016 as #1, which it was only partially, 2017 is his 2nd. And it was not disappointing.

If you're counting 2017 as his first full class, and 2018 as #2 (which was after a 4-win season, not a 9-win), then see the previous paragraph about how many guys have already started to turn out in just one year, even though CB whined about it and said it was an awful class.

Turns out we're starting to see that these coaches can see beyond stars. We're starting to see the type of talent evaluation that we saw when Utah needed to start building up their rosters and depth charts. Find good athletes, even if they're lowly rated, and plug them in and develop them.

And BYU is absolutely getting better at filling out their classes with talent than Bronco did. That's where the difference is made. News flash. BYU is always going to struggle getting more and more of the highly rated guys. But where they can make the difference is how they fill their classes out.
Talent at the top isn't BYU's problem. Talent in the depth is. And the depth is getting better. So keep talking about how recruiting is getting worse as we're improving our depth charts.
