I don't think you can heap blame on the guy whose job it is to increase the brand and maintain viability of the athletic department. When the coaches or players under-perform or make decisions that are detrimental to the product on the court/field, that's on the players and coaches themselves. Are there things that Holmoe could have done better in hindsight? Sure. Not all his decisions pan out perfectly. But I think he's done a decent job navigating the waters he's been asked to sail. I'm also not sure how many people could have done much better.
