The Baseball HOF used to be for the elite only
But the last few years have really changed the designation of a hall of famer. Guys like Jack Morris, Harold Baines, and Edgar Martinez never would've gotten in a generation ago. The fact is that if you are going to turn the HOF into the Hall of 'Good for a long time', why keep out the great players from the steroid era, or guys from the the '60s, '70s & '80s with more modest numbers but who were great in their time? If this is the new standard, Dale Murphy, Will Clark, Mark Grace, etc. should be elected next year. And Bonds, Clemens, McGwire, Sosa, etc. should be locks for the hall.
