I hate the psychology of it
I hate feeling like the government gave me something when it is just my money back.
I know intellectually that it's my money but I still dislike that mentally I get excited for a tax return. I feel like I'm giving them credit for something they didn't do.
I think it's very hard to put a refund into the appropriate context. To me that is a big reason it is done this way to begin with.
