Last week I met a man in FL that was in the top ranks of the Venezuelan military

prior to Chavez. Because he did not agree with communism, he was removed from his position as colonel (approaching general) and his career ended. He described how the lifestyle of the people changed. He is now an Uber driver.

The terrible thing about socialism/communism is that eventually you run out of other people's money/resources to give to the masses, and then the economic engine dries up and all are left to suffer. I used to work for a retail chain that would not consider operations in Venezuela because of its political climate. The people liked it for a little while, but now are struggling to receive basic necessities.
