philosophies in between capitalism and Marxism. For example, the social democratic movements that are so common in Western Europe, or the many flavors of Socialism that fall well short of Communism. Or even systems that are labeled as “communist” but really aren’t, such as what they practice in China or most other nominally “Marxist” countries these days.
There are plenty of people who believe in higher taxes, redistribution of wealth, or that the government should be more involved in economic activity or in people’s lives in general, who aren’t Marxists. In fact, our current POTUS believes in some of those things, but I’m guessing that you don’t consider him to be a Marxist.
Oh, and abortion actually has almost nothing to do with Marx or Marxism. Much less so than, say, religion, or more accurately the lack thereof. Some of the most left-wing regimes in the world have very restrictive abortion laws (e.g. Venezuela & Nicaragua) while most of the most capitalistic countries have liberal abortion laws.
