But I don’t think they could have run the gauntlet of all those top teams to win the state championship. Bingham really did take it to them, I was at that game, and I felt like Orem had some great players but team wide did not match up well enough. Bingham beat them at Orem by 3 tds so it wasn’t really that close. They hung around but Bingham eventually wore them down and dominates the 4th quarter which is Bingham’s m.o.

Bingham was unable to do that against either AF or LP. LP beat them in a very close game he one time they played and AF split two close games with them. I just think those two teams in particular had more depth than Orem so they were able to withstand Bingham a bit better.

In the case of AF they had more weapons then Orem had. AF had more overall speed than Orem had and more WRs and TEs to get the ball to.

The other thing AF had was a QB that Bingham was unable to get ahold of and stop, they couldn’t catch him. If I remember correctly Bingham sacked the Orem QB 7 times and he threw 3 picks against them.

Puka however was awesome that game, like most games, but was Orem’s only consistent weapon. But depth, or lack of it, was the difference. And that is what you’d expect between a 4A team and 6A teams.
