Shall we joke about the students' bad grades during shootings?

Or maybe New York downtown needing a spruce up during 9/11? Maybe holocaust victims should have just had a sandwich? I'm simply illustrating the point that comedy doesn't justify all. Laughing at someone's face as their business burns is horrible. Heartless. But if I say "just joking" afterward then it's OK? Naw. Not buying. I'm as sarcastic as they come but this is too far today. Too soon. Too much to be said in public. Too unkind. Too insensitive. Too unfeeling. It's just not decent. Are there no boundries? Is nothing too much? It can be said and so it should be said? No. I don't agree. We all have the freedom of speech but we do not have the freedom from the consequences of our speech. So some things are better left unsaid. Filters should be kept in place sometimes. Our progenitors said "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all". Timeless advice we've too soon abandoned.
