Someone's business burned to the ground. Call it what you will. It's big to them

Imagine you're there. The owner is watching his business, his livelihood burn to the ground. You're wondering you'll be able to rebuild, if insurance will cover it all. You're also wondering if you'll be able to make it financially during the several months where you'll have no income. Maybe the business wasn't that successful and you dont' know whether rebuilding is worth it and if you should start completely over doing something else. A scary thought. One thing's clear, this is going to be a lot of work to get everything back. Will employee's stay? Can they weather month or even a year without a job or will I lose my cooks and have to start from scratch?

Just as your thinking all this. Worrying about the future. Somebody says "Whatever. 'Best possible outcome' cuz their food really sucked anyway".

How would you feel?

I'm in Idaho. We had a drunk driver accidentally run through the front of a local beloved small drive-in restaurant. The owner, who i know personally, had insurance but not enough to completely rebuild. The building was unstable and was condemned. He declared bankruptcy. Here a year later, the building is still smashed. Empty. The owner works at Home Depot now. For his family, it was a very real loss. I can only imagine if he heard some of the comments we've heard here on CB. Just kinda sick. Really callous stuff. Joke or not. We can do better.
