People feel like the side effects of the vaccine outweigh the risks of the

measles and mumps. Mumps are still pretty common in colleges even after vaccination. The risk of dying from measles in like 1 in 3,000. So these parents are obviously feeling like the side effects stated by the CDC about the vaccine outweigh the risk of the measles or mumps. Again, not advocating this thinking, but just trying to give a reason for this idea of skipping the MMR. I believe the death rate from measles plummeted the 30 years prior to the vaccine as is.
