Gas and coal are much cheaper. The price of just the fuel/kw may be somewhat comparable but the security, licensing and building a nuclear power plant is exponentially more than a gas plant. However, yes the environmental impact is much less. And it could be even less if the government allowed reprocessing of the fuel.
