I was able to get an update on the MIA Indian woman and her employment status, apparently she met with her boss and HR and claimed that she brought her laptop with her to India, but there wasn't any wi-fi where she was so she worked "from home" for the 3+ weeks but did so without ever connecting to our network or notifying her boss before hand (she is a data analyst, so I find this claim to be a bunch a baloney, if she couldn't connect to our network, she couldn't have done much for her job).
She is still sitting at her desk, I don't know if they have made a decision to fire her yet, so far she has lasted 4 days, but the wheels of HR are slow sometimes in my company, so who knows if she will end up keeping her job or not.
Frankly I find it almost comical that such a situation could even drag on this long, if you can't fire someone for going MIA for that long, is there such a thing as a fireable offense any more?
