In general, I agree that a program cannot mail it in and needs good talent to maintain the cash flow. But do you agree that these same D1 athletes playing their same sport in some other league would not garner anywhere close to the interest that they garner while playing for a big-time D1 program? That seems obvious to me. The point is that these programs do plenty (and spend a boatload) in order to put athletes in a position where they could even claim to be responsible for any revenue generation.
