Other things too. The reality is that if a kid showed up in 9th grade and hasn’t played he probably will never see the field.
The level of aggression and being around players who understand how to play will overwhelm him. Get him in by 8th at the latest probably 7th.

Is he asking to play football? A kid being in football prior to HS has little advantage over a kid who waited until HS.
