I still lift 5-6 times a week and still do burpees regularly
I hit the 1000 lbs club recently again, and yet still focus on keeping my running, pull ups, pushups and burpees in a solid range to prepare for my next Spartan race.

So, while I agree that lifting is the best for fitness, there are also many ways to test how fit a person is, and I wouldn’t judge any of them based on others preferences.
