just like athletics, training and practice can improve a person but they will always be limited by their natural talent. You can become stronger by lifting weights, you can become faster by running sprints and working on technique, you can jump higher by doing exercises that increase leg strength and explosion, and you can improve your singing ability by practice and improved technique.
But your upper end is limited by the natural talent you have for those things. No one is going to go from a 12" vertical jump to a 40", no one is going to go from running a 5.2 forty to a 4.5 forty, and no one is going from a tone deaf shower crooner to an opera singer no matter how much they train and practice. But they can get better in all of those things than where they started.
