And if you can hear somebody's conversation on a plane from more than 1 row away, that's incredibly annoying too.

On my train, one car is reserved as the “quiet” car, no talking, etc.

The quiet cars seem like a good solution. Some for talking/working, some quiet.

Some of them aren't marked. Usually they are the ones towards the ends of the train.
