Often times when there is an injury it appears fans are cheering an injury
First, you have to look at the entire context of the play.

In collision sports it can be an otherwise big hit. In this it looked for a second that there was somewhat of a breakaway. Some people could have been cheering what they thought was a turnover leading to points the other way. And it happens all the time. My Aggie in-laws accuse BYU fans of this all the time, when the cheering is for a big hit- not an injury.

Secondly, have you ever been to an arena where the space is really built for hockey and basketball is almost an afterthought? There aren’t many seats that have great angles. I’m sure everyone knew KD was injured. Cheering begets cheering. There are a lot of fans in playoff/ finals games that just cheer whenever anyone else does.

Third, there are a lot of dumb fans in playoffs who never watch sports (similar to the people who cheer whenever anyone else does) who think that the “championship got that much easier”...I agree this is classless, but many of them hardly fall under the true fan mantra. They are the “raptors” fans who consider themselves diehard but don’t know who Vince Carter or Chris Bosh is.

And yes there were trashy fans cheering. But I also don’t think everyone cheering at that specific moment, was cheering for KD being hurt. In fact once he walked off it seemed like the cheers turned into cheers FOR KD.
