First of all, I don't necessarily agree with all of the comparative advantages that the OP gives to Utah. And, I think there are places where Utah may have an a slight advantage but it's a lot closer then some people think.
A couple thoughts. First of the guards to tight ends, Bushman and MLP are as good as any tight end tandem in the country. I think this tandem will rival Chad Lewis and Itua Mili. With a healthy Wilson throwing the ball, it could be really good for BYU next year.
Next, is the running back position. They may have the better number one, but BYU depth and the addition of 2 gradbtransfers really helps close the gap.
And on the defensive line, I will not argue that Utah has the better overall group. Tonga, who I am hearing is in better shape than he ever has been, and plans declare for the draft after next season, is one of the best defensive lineman in the country.
Where Utah has the advantage is in their depth, and the fact they've won so many in a row, which gives them a psychological advantage.
this BYU team, in my opinion could be very good this season. but to do so, they're going to have to have fewer injuries as adept still isn't there.
