Suicide grip over regular grip...Not the same thing as your example of squats and front squats in my opinion. From what I’ve read there is no reason to do both. If you are doing suicide grip no real reason to do regular grip.

Going from regular width grip to wide or narrow can activate different muscles. Wide puts more stress on the shoulder too.
